Pencoed Primary School Working together for each and every child

Governors

What do the governors do?

The Governing Body has a responsibility for seeing that the school is run effectively, acting within the framework set by legislation and that the policies of the Local Authority (LA) and the Welsh Government are adhered to.

The Headteacher and Governing Body work in a close and balanced partnership to provide the best possible education for the pupils at Pencoed Primary School. Governors work with the Headteacher to think strategically about how to raise standards of achievement for all pupils at the school, for setting the budget and for overseeing the curriculum. They also have powers with respect to the appointment and dismissal of staff and the exclusion and re-instatement of pupils.

The full Governing Body meets at least once each term and there are also different sub-committees that meet regularly.
