Pencoed Primary School Working together for each and every child

Year 6 enjoy Pencoed Comprehensive Transition Day

Members of the Drama Club and teachers from the comprehensive school came to visit to run an exciting fun workshop with Year 6, where they were taught a song and routine from the musical "Back to the 80s".  Year 6 were supported by pupils from Pencoed Comprehensive School as part of the "Moving On Up" transition programme.

The  "Moving On Up" concert is part of a transition project at Pencoed that aims to improve primary pupils' and their parents' familiarity with the school, layout and atmosphere.  This bridge will also ensure that effective support is in place ensuring that the pupils themselves are seen as active participants in the transition process and in their own learning.

The project has included Secondary pupils being chosen as "Transition Buddies" to work with Year 6 pupils in workshops.  the main event will be celebratory transition concert that will take place on March 22nd 2016.  Year 6 will be invited to participate in the concert and will perform alongside secondary school pupils.  In addition to performing the routine and song which they have been been taught in the workshop, each school will also be invited to perform solo, duets and group pieces that showcase their talent.  The concert will celebrate the talent of the young people of Pencoed and the surrounding clusters.

Our Year 6 pupils absolutely loved the workshop and many pupils have declared their interest in taking part in the show.  Below are some pictures of the workshop this morning: -
