  • Year 6 Recycling workshop

Sat 29 Nov 2014 Mr Raymond
As part of our topic "Keen to be Green", Year 6 were treated to a series of workshops on Thursday as the excellent Tony and David from ADA Recycling spent the day with us. Pupils learnt all about the importance of recycling, and the different ways in which we can recycle goods at home and in school. The day was extremely fun and engaging, and we can't wait to welcome our visitors again next year!
  • Central South Consortium poetry competition

Thu 13 Nov 2014 Mr Raymond

As part of our year 6 literacy work, our pupils recently entered the Central South poetry competition, entitled "What makes a great teacher?". Pupils from across the region (Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan, Bridgend, Merthyr & RCT) took part, and the top 100 poems have been displayed at the Cardiff City stadium. Remarkably, 11 out of the top 100 were from Pencoed Primary! A massive congratulations to the following pupils:

Sophie Bowen, Millie Andrews, Freya Thomas, Iestyn Deere, Morgan Sweet, Hope Evans, Dan Johnson, Harison Eden, James Roberts, Laini Lewis and Shirley Chen.

This really is a marvellous achievement. Da Iawn pawb!

As part of our topic " Keen To Be Green", Year 6 travelled to the Brecon Beacons on Monday to explore the national park and to find out more about the landscape, wildlife and activities in Mid Wales. The pupils had a wonderful time and as usual, the behaviour of our pupils was commended by our hosts.
  • Remembrance Day

    Tue 11 Nov 2014

I was very honoured to be part of the very moving Remembrance Day service in Pencoed on Sunday. It was fantastic to see so many people marking this very important occasion, where we remembered all the local people who have lost their lives, not only in the first and second world wards but in more recent conflicts.

I was incredibly proud of all the children from the school, who showed great respect and responsibility.
